To
ensure that our customers can compare like with like when considering
the purchase of sails, we have listed the features which are standard
on all our sails.
We use
an ultra-violet resistant cloth of medium/soft finish, colours and
racing finish cloth are also available.
Seams are
sewn with a three-step stitch, equivalent to two rows of zig-zag,
one row for lightweight or small craft sails, two rows for heavy
duty sails or for the working sails of boats over 30'.
The leach
end of all seams has a flutter patch to prevent leachline chafe
and give added strength. All mainsails and most headsails will have
a leachline.
Corner and
reef patches are radial cut to give great strength and light weight,
with a cover cloth to prevent chafe. Corners are well leathered
and boltropes tapered to avoid a sudden change of strength.
Batten pockets
are double thickness, with added thickness at the inboard end.
All cringles
are 'Rutgerson' stainless steel super rings, except on small lightweight
sails.
Headboards
are anodised alloy fastened with stainless steel rivets.
We are prepared to meet any specification within the limits of
materials available. Hand sewn rings, external worked grommets (as
image - right) or any traditional work is within our scope, as are
sails of any size or weight. Above all, we are happy to discuss
the customer's requirements and advise on the best way to achieve
exactly what is wanted.
Comments from happy customers:
"I am absolutely delighted with the sail. Everything that
I saw was equal or an improvement on my old mainsail, which as you
know earned my loyalty through hard service. My headsail has a few
more years of life, but I shall be seeking your services again when
it needs replacing"
Carl McIlroy, Yacht KuKara
"We've bought an exceptional British classic with sails you
made in 1994, that are as new and perfect, the work of an artist"
Joachim Heitmann, Yacht Vera Mary
